CQ CQ CQ to all Amateur Radio satellite operators - Bird Chasers, Grid Snipers, Low Earth Legends, Doppler Dodgers, Horizon Heroes, and Roving Road Warriors…

As if chasing QSOs and grids on our favorite birds wasn’t challenging enough, we bring you Bird Chaser Bingo – Summer 2026.

In the spirit of other off-the-grid satellite adventures, like WMPLOTA (Walmart Parking Lots on the Air) and AD0-squared, we’ve got a new, friendly competition to entertain and challenge you all summer long.

No entrance fee, no sponsors, no geographical limitations… because we’re all in this together.

We’re playing classic bingo with a satellite twist. Your card is filled with summer-themed operating locations, satellites, and challenges. Complete a row, column, or diagonal to score a bingo… or go for the ultimate brag: a “Full Eclipse” (all squares completed—also known as a blackout).

We’ll recognize all operators who submit their bingo results, issue printable certificates via email for one or more bingos, and send commemorative QSL cards* to those who achieve a Full Eclipse.

Download your bingo card, track your completed squares, and submit your results.
~ All activity must occur between May 15 and August 31, 2026 (UTC).
~ Please submit your completed card info by September 15, 2026.

We’re operating on the honor system—any funny business may result in… QRM. 😉

Helpful Notes -

What information is required for the submission?

Most of the squares require the call sign of the operator you completed a QSO with to complete the square requirement. There are a couple exceptions though. See the guide (picture) to the left of the info you will need for submission.

Is there an award for completing a bingo or blackout first?
No formal award—but your callsign will likely be listed first on the website with a note about your speedy work. You’ve got all summer… enjoy the ride and don’t forget sunscreen.

How can I find operators activating these locations?
The best satellite activation announcement tool out there is hams.at (created by Rockwell, WW1X). We encourage rovers to leave helpful notes for chasers—like “Bingo Campground,” “Bingo Festival,” or “Bingo Beach.”

Also, X (formerly Twitter) remains an active space for satellite operators to post and coordinate activity.

Where will my certificate or QSL card be sent?
Certificates (PDF) will be sent to the email provided during submission.
QSL cards will be mailed to the address listed on QRZ.

Sending cards outside the U.S. can be expensive - but we’ll do our best with the limited budget approved by the XYL. *Total QSL cards issued could be limited if there is overwhelming demand - after all, this is a privately funded venture.

Are you going to sell my information?
Oh, you flatter yourself. Most of your information is already public on QRZ, FCC, RSGB, etc. We have no intention of selling anything, but we also can’t promise security perfection in an imperfect digital world.

Who can I contact with questions or to share photos?
We’d love to hear from you. Send friendly notes to KK7OVF (email on QRZ).
Including “bingo” in the subject line will help us keep things organized.
